What good is a ring if it doesn’t fit you? No matter how beautiful or charming a ring may be its beauty and purpose is completely lost if it doesn’t fit right. Irrespective of whether a ring is too tight where it can barely move to the bottom of your finger and it is impossible to wear it or if is too loose with the ring having a tendency of slipping off every now and then; a ring in the wrong ring size can prove to be quite a disaster.

Rings are in this respect a little different from other kinds of jewelry which are also fairly easier to shop for as compared to rings since you don’t need to know an accurate size before buying them like you do in case of rings. Funny though it may sound many women who may otherwise be avid jewelry lovers may actually be unaware of their ring size which is why here are some ways that we have mentioned by which you can calculate your ring size sitting at home and without taking the trouble of visiting a local jeweler.

The best way of going about calculating your ring size at home would begin with cutting out a strip of paper that measures about three fourth of an inch in width and four inches in length. The next step would be to wrap this piece of paper strip around the base of your finger which you want to size. Making sure that the strip is neither too tightly gripped nor too loose around your finger but feels comfortable; mark it once you circle the strip around the base of your finger.

Next take out the strip of paper and measure it on a ruler to find how much it measures. Finally use a converter to convert your reading to the corresponding ring size chart. You can also use a piece of string and follow the same instructions.

The most important thing that you must be careful about in this process is to not wrap the piece of paper either too close to the base of your finger or too far away or else your ring will be sized wrongly and will end up being too tight or extremely loose. Ensure always that the ring has a little extra room in order to accommodate any slight weight gain in the future when your fingers also may swell a little. Many online jewelry retailing companies also have a ring size ruler for use which you can always print and cut out and use to measure your correct ring size at home.
